Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 14, 2026

Osmio is a Chrome extension that replaces words on websites you visit with words in your target language. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.

What we collect

When you create an account, we collect your email address and language preferences. We store a record of the words you encounter while browsing in order to show your progress stats and send your daily word summary.

What we don't collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit the full text content of websites you visit. We do not track which websites you visit. We do not sell your data to any third party, ever.

How we use your data

Your email address is used only to send your daily word digest (if you have it enabled) and essential account communications like password resets. Your word history powers your progress stats and email summary. Nothing else.

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by emailing privacy@getosmio.com.

Third-party services

Osmio uses Anthropic's Claude API to select and translate words. Words are sent to this API in sentence context but without any personally identifying information. We use Resend to deliver email summaries. We use Stripe to process payments — Osmio never stores your payment details directly.

Cookies and local storage

The Osmio extension stores your preferences and authentication token locally in Chrome's extension storage on your device. This data never leaves your browser except to communicate with the Osmio backend for your account.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top and notify users by email where appropriate.
